Fri Jan 02, 2015 10:43 pm | | | I am having issues keeping weight on Simon even with feeding him 3 times a day and giving him 4 cups of the TOTW. I was talking to some people that work dogs and they suggested trying a food with higher protein and fat. Simon looks fine because he is so fluffy but I can feel all of his ribs pretty easy and his spine. I found the victor hi-pro for active dogs looked pretty good and I am a little worried about my guy not keeping weight on. | | | | HuskyMom09 Senior Join date : 2012-11-01 Location : Spokane WA | Subject: Re: Victor dog food? Fri Jan 02, 2015 10:46 pm | | | What TOTW formula were you on? I had a lot of success with minimal supplementation at the peak of running season with High Prairie...but that was a 32/18. We did make the switch to Eagle Pack Power last month and it's almost 100kcal/cup more than the TOTW HP (not to mention same price for 10lbs more food). For Siberians you do want a High protein/moderate-high fat low carb food. | | | | Playing with the Big Dogs Adult Join date : 2013-12-04 Location : Idaho | Subject: Re: Victor dog food? He goes to work with me and runs around all day so I almost worry he is to active. | | | | HuskyMom09 Senior Join date : 2012-11-01 Location : Spokane WA | Subject: Re: Victor dog food? Fri Jan 02, 2015 10:55 pm | | | I was adding a half scoop Annamaet Impact, which is like a protein shake for dogs, as well as a specific mushers mix of raw meats and fats. Early season that wasn't needed, but by the time we were running 20-ish miles per run 3 times per week it certainly helped keep everyone at tip top shape. | | | | Playing with the Big Dogs Adult Join date : 2013-12-04 Location : Idaho | Subject: Re: Victor dog food? Fri Jan 02, 2015 11:09 pm | | | Should it be that hard to keep weight on a year old who is mostly free running in large yards? He does do a fair amount of chasing other dogs and running the fence. It feels weird to have to feed him like he is sledding when he is barely in harness at all? | | | | HuskyMom09 Senior Join date : 2012-11-01 Location : Spokane WA | Subject: Re: Victor dog food? Fri Jan 02, 2015 11:26 pm | | | One thing to consider is he is only a year old. They don't fill out and often look gangly until 2-4 years of age. Many won't put on that nice back muscle cover until they start working in harness, especially given what is in his lineage. At a year old OMG Denali look awful! It wasn't until he was 18-20mos he started to actually look decent. | | | | Sponsored content | Subject: Re: Victor dog food? | | | | | | | | | | Similar topics | | Similar topics | | | » Too much food, not enough food, Perfect amount of food? » Victor High Pro Plus puppy/adult » Issues with Taste of the Wild/Possible Switch to Victor » When to switch from puppy food to adult food? » Eden Dog Food - yep another dry food question | | | Permissions in this forum: | You cannot reply to topics in this forum | | It's a Husky Thing - Siberian Husky Forum ::Advice and Discussion Forums ::Nutrition and Feeding | | | | | It's a Husky Thing - Siberian Husky Forum ::Advice and Discussion Forums ::Nutrition and Feeding | | | | | Stickies and Announcements | | Welcome to It's A Husky Thing Forum Policy : Please Read How to Upload Pictures What are "Treats" Posting Etiquette | | Latest topics | » The Desert Pack by Lostmaniac Yesterday at 11:05 pm » Murphy law by TwisterII Mon Oct 03, 2022 9:55 am » Clostriduim and helicobacter by amymeme Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:09 am » Recall Information by aljones Thu Sep 08, 2022 6:26 pm » Lachlan sings on international dog day! by TwisterII Tue Sep 06, 2022 3:58 pm » Spider being spider by TwisterII Mon Aug 29, 2022 9:35 am » Is it safe to remove undercoat by amymeme Mon Aug 22, 2022 6:36 pm » Is our pup Kavik (14 wk) going to be wooly? by amymeme Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:56 pm » Need some tips...male husky is too thin. by dinf22 Mon Aug 08, 2022 10:03 pm » What do you use while walking your husky? by amymeme Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:05 pm » Please help... by kinu Mon Aug 01, 2022 10:24 am » The Husky Bunch - A Video Diary by TwisterII Mon Jul 25, 2022 9:56 am » RIP Finley by Bigmoneyyoshi Sun Jul 10, 2022 5:18 am » Need suggestions by Lostmaniac Thu Jul 07, 2022 10:52 pm » Lobo's just not in the mood. by aljones Tue Jul 05, 2022 5:42 pm » Chronic diarrhea - vet is shrugging by PolarPup21 Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:33 am » Need help to Navigate by aljones Mon Jun 27, 2022 5:28 pm » Aargh...Ami!
